A coherent and captivating short story is (inevitably) 300 words long or longer.

We had several entries in the 2011 contest that had a length of approx. 300 words and some of them could

easily compete with 1,500 words stories. Those entries were strong regarding their literary voice,

because of the use of minimalistic sentences and expressions that could flourish with high mimetic quality.

We do value short entries the same way as longer entries or entries that are close to the maximum allowed length.

Usually, the shorter the story is, we look even more closely at what's written 'between' the lines, i.e. metaphors or hints

that only an attentive reader can catch.
